The Process to Donate a Horse

When you give, you get so much back.

  • The Operations Director and a staff member will visit the prospective horse in their current home to evaluate ground manners, body type, movement and soundness to determine appropriateness in meeting the current needs of HwH.

  • Horse comes in to HwH facility to begin a 30 – 60 day trial period where they are introduced to the activities, equipment and procedures they will experience in typical HwH therapeutic, veteran, silver saddle and competition team sessions. During this process, the donor will be kept informed of their horse’s progress. HwH provides care and assumes expense during this time period.

  • Once the trial period has been successfully completed, the horse will be accepted into the program and transfer of ownership with a donation acknowledgement provided.

  • If the horse is not successful in their trial period, arrangements will be made to return them promptly to their owner.
